Our Story

Blue Sky Homes, a ‘Smart and Green’ real estate development company located in the Arcadia neighborhood of Phoenix, Arizona, is owned and operated by Nick & Adralyn Blue. We specialize in designing and building stylish, energy-efficient, technologically integrated homes, emphasizing the neighborhood via front-yard patios and living space. Our subdivision and home sites are selected carefully with a goal of giving our homeowners the opportunity to comfortably walk or bicycle to nearby restaurants, coffee shops, parks or other attractions. We think the more time people spend outside their cars interacting with their neighbors and surroundings, the higher the quality of life, and the more they will love where they live. Finally, and because we believe the strength of a society lies within sharing, 5% of our profits are directed toward helping people in need within our community.
Who we are…

Nick planted the seed for what would later become Blue Sky Homes with the acquisition of his first investment property in 2009; a time when the masses were running from the sector and housing was considered a ‘terrible’ investment. Since then, his team has expanded, enabling Blue Sky to buy & sell more than 275 properties, involving over $75M in real estate transactions.

Prior to founding Blue Sky and acquiring his real estate license, Nick worked as a financial advisor. He specialized in equity management by helping his clients understand and execute creative investment opportunities utilizing real estate to achieve their financial goals. In addition, he held his Series 7 and 66 licenses to assist with more traditional investing strategies in stocks, bonds, and mutual funds.

Originally from Marin County in Northern California, Nick came to Arizona in pursuit of a chance to play Major League Baseball with an invitation by the San Diego Padres to attend spring training. While a shoulder injury brought that dream to a halt, the time spent rehabbing in Arizona gave him his first glimpse of the vibrant real-estate market in the Phoenix area. Before that, Nick attended Wake Forest University on a baseball scholarship, graduating with a degree in communications. As a switch-hitting second baseman he helped lead the Demon Deacons to the ACC Championship in 2001. The following year, while garnering All-ACC honors, Nick contributed to Wake’s best season in school history, including a #2 national ranking.

Nick credits Blue Sky’s success with his ability to recognize his own weaknesses and recruit the best designer and business partner in the land to head Field Operations…his wife, Adralyn (see below). The Blue Sky team has expanded further with the birth of their daughter Gabriella in July 2013.

When not chasing deals, Nick enjoys being active, spending time with his wonderful family, and traveling to distant lands.

Adralyn breathes life into our houses, leaving behind the feel of home. Uniquely creating each project, she oversees a changeover process that takes ‘just another house on the block’ to a status of ‘highly sought-after commodity’. Along with design aesthetics, she monitors all budgeting and renovation timelines, interfacing with the Project Manager to ensure the end result fits the upfront vision.

Adralyn has been with the Blue Sky team since 2011 – a period during which she has overseen 200+ projects. She brings ‘the magic’ to the operation with her sense of style & design. Adralyn creates move-in ready homes with renovation budgets ranging from $30,000 for simple facelifts to $500,000 for complicated remodels, additions, and new builds. She transforms the original house into a home that truly ‘wows’ her shoppers. Adralyn’s goal is to hook her buyers with enough signature touches that they can’t help but talk about “the home with the unbelievable kitchen or amazing master suite”.

Adralyn has a Bachelor’s in Communications from Wake Forest University, where she ran track & cross country on a full scholarship, and where she met her husband, Nicolas. Prior to joining Blue Sky, she taught in Phoenix’s Roosevelt School District with Teach for America, coordinated events as a District Aide for U.S. Congressman, Harry Mitchell, and ran political campaigns on the local and national level. In the summer of 2013, Adralyn & Nick became parents with the birth of their baby girl.

Emily joined the Blue Sky Homes team in September of 2012. Her work in design and field operations ranges from designing and planning upgrades to managing budgets and timelines. She earned a B.S. in Business Administration from Arizona State University and a certificate in Interior Design from the American Institute of Interior Design. Emily’s favorite aspect of her role is creating a finished product that people would be proud to call home.

Prior to joining the Blue Sky Homes team, Emily worked in various lines of business within the banking industry. She gained significant knowledge of mortgage and lending, and loves that she can apply that to her current role. In her free time, Emily enjoys hiking Arizona’s beautiful trails, reading, and spending time with her family.

Charity of Choice: LovePup
I chose LovePup because it is a local Arcadia foundation that helps rescue dogs and find them new forever homes. LovePup was started by 104.7 KISSFM radio DJ, Johnjay, from the Johnjay and Rich show. Johnjay and his family rescue dogs all across the valley from families who have abandoned their dogs, to stray dogs on the street, to hurt and abused dogs nobody wants. They welcome these dogs into their home and pay for any and all vet bills out of their own pocket. All dogs are spayed/neutered and 100% healthy before they are put up for adoption, FREE of charge.

After 250+ applications, countless calls, interviews and close considerations Amy is the cream that rose to the top! Amy is joining us with a background in Kitchen & Bath Design and Project Management. Prior to BSH she worked for the largest Design-Build firm in Chicago – She still leads their team in 2016 sales and production despite relocating to Arizona! Our hope is Amy will be the free agent we need to spearhead our projects and take our project & design coordination to the next level. Verdict is still out on whether or not she is a Cubs fan.

Charity of Choice: The Her Initiative
Through my network of fitness enthusiast I heard about The Her Initiative, a branch of Healing Water International. The Her Initiative focuses on empowering women through clean water systems and implementing a female-specific health & hygiene program called ‘Clothed with Strength and Dignity’. In efforts to raise funds, they offer “Parties for Her”, bringing together women here to support women there. Given I cannot go an hour without water, a day without a workout, a week without some quality girl time I could not have chosen a more fitting organization to support.

Charity of Choice: Phoenix Children’s Hospitals Homeless Youth Initiative- Crews’n Healthmobile
Thousands of youth live on the streets of Phoenix, many in desperate need of medical treatment. They are at an increased risk of illness, injury, and depression due to the hardships they face. Most lack health insurance and don’t have access to appropriate health care.
The program treats infants through the age of 24-years-old to those who say they are homeless or at-risk of being homeless. They are provided treatment regardless of insurance status and ability to pay.
In the fall of 2000, an innovative partnership was formed between Phoenix Children’s Hospital, Children’s Health Fund and HomeBase Youth Services. The result was the “Crews’n Healthmobile,” a 35-foot Mobile Medical Unit (MMU) that brought free, comprehensive medical care directly to this special population.

Charity of Choice: Foundation for Blind Children
I have been working with this specific group for the past four years. Since joining Delta Gamma, our focus has been on working with the visually impaired. FBC offers education for both children and parents as well as a place for these children to feel at home and welcome. Every Friday, a group of us go in to work with these children, doing various activities to help these children learn to work with their specific diagnosis. We also worked with the parents to help them understand how to cope and work with their children to live their best possible lives. I have gotten to know specific children each week and they have truly touched my heart.
